 skinny fat

Once again I have decided to switch things up as far as weight loss and diet goes.  Today I woke up to a .6 gain and I am just over this stupid roller coaster that I am on with regards to my diet and I need to switch it up before I go overboard and gain a bunch of weight.  When I get frustrated I end up going backwards and I want to stop myself before I actually do it.

There is one thing that I has been bothering me ever since I started to get closer to my goal weight and that is being skinny fat (great post on MDA).  You know the type of body where you are pretty skinny all over yet you still have a high/higher percentage of body fat?  Yeah that is what I really don't want and honestly losing 120 pounds without having to workout is probably good enough.  I now need to become stronger and improve in the cardio area.  I am just tired of being jiggly all over.

In a way I feel ultra bipolar at the moment with all of these changes and I just hope this isn't a way for me to try and get out of trying to do a hard diet again but I honestly don't think I can handle another very low calorie diet for one more day.  It really is important for me to improve my strength and cardio so I think this will be a great plan to get the last 35 or so pounds off.

I will eat around 1400-1700 calories and that is based on my BMR or resting metabolic rate of 1585 calories.  One pound is equal to 3500 calories so in order for me to lose 2 pounds a week I need to have a 1000 calorie deficit.  If I figure that my daily caloric needs are around 1745-1900 so by dropping my daily intake down to 1500 and exercising the rest of the 1000 calories I should be on track to lose weight and get healthier.  Of course I may have to adjust this depending on what happens but hopefully it won't be too hard to figure out.  Thank goodness I have my GoWearFit to help me see how many calories I am burning!!

I will do an hour of cardio and 20 minutes of strength training each day as well as increase my overall activity levels.  That means taking the dogs on a couple of walks, finish up home projects such as painting or caulking trim, cleaning, organizing, mowing the lawn, etc.  I just need to start getting up and moving.  I wish I could exercise and eat the VLCD but after doing that the other day I was pretty hungry and it pretty much wiped me out for the rest of the day and that was only doing 30 minutes of some not so hard cardio!  I need the extra calories if I plan on increasing my activity level and exercise plan.

This week will be a big week for me.  I am going off the HCG as of last night and I will slowly increase my calories.  Then starting next Monday I will be begin my exercise plan.  Yeah, yeah, yeah it is the 4th of July but eh, Kyle will still be sleeping from his night shift the night before and it gives me time to get my cardio in.  The reason I am starting Monday is because I am going back to my parents house this weekend.  My nephews will have been there for the week and I thought I would go back and help my mom.  Playing with the kids alllllll day is a ton of activity and I want to be able to have a few extra calories to keep up with them and not feel starving.  So technically I will be starting upping the activity level on Thursday.  Four and two year olds are busy as hell!  LOL!

I have a lot of learning to do as I have never ever strength trained in the last 12-13 years.  Probably the last time I did any of that was when I was in high school and we would strength train for whatever sport I was in at the time.  It is definitely time for me to get a lot stronger than what I am now and I am excited to see where this takes me!
